The Last Minute Checklist

Five days to go until we push off from the Golden Gate Bridge at 8am. Below is a checklist to help ensure you are all set to have an epic ride.

- Know the route! The link to the route is in a previous post. Review it as there will be NO MAPS HANDED OUT.
- Get bike tuned up. Waited to the last minute to schedule a tune up? Click here to get in touch with Rob Spear at Spearhead Cycles. Let him know you are doing The Ride and he'll hook you up!
- Check out the weather forecast. Looks like we may be heading into rain on the road from Morro Bay to Santa Barbara and the days that follow. If you do not have a proper wet weather riding gear, check out Above Category for the best clothing to keep you dry and warm.
- Shipping option for clothing and gear. If you are NOT riding with a backpack (pansies), be sure to get your packages shipped off to the right hotels by Wednesday. Remember Monday is a holiday and UPS/Fed Ex might not have service. Addresses to hotels are below in a previous post.
- We will push off from the Golden Gate Bridge at 8am. If you are late, see the first item on this checklist.

Not a complicated process so I hope no one is stressing out. In a few days all you will have to be concerned with is riding from point A to point B. Let me know if you have any questions.

The Route - Keep the ocean to your right

It's that simple. Keep the ocean to your right. Sure there is a veritable plethora of ways to get through Pacifica, Santa Cruz, SLO and even Guadalupe, but if you trust your sense of adventure you'll get there all same. NO SAG - Ship your clothes

Believe it, there will be NO SAG this year for The Ride. As I have mentioned in previous posts on this blog you will be responsible for your equipment. If you don't think you can carry a backpack or panniers on your bike then you may want to look into shipping extra clothes and tubes, etc. to each hotel ahead of time. This has been done by a few riders over the last few years and seems to work well. All you need to do is get your stuff to UPS in enough time to be shipped to Seaside, Morro Bay and Santa Barbara. Important to remember is that we are arriving to Seaside on a Saturday, Morro Bay on Sunday and Santa Barbara on Monday (holiday). I would encourage you to arrange your packages to get to their destinations on Friday the 18th. You should be sure to call each hotel to let them know to expect your package. Also be sure to insert a prepaid "Return Ship" label in each box so you can have the front desk ship your stinky clothes back to you. Details regarding the mailing addresses of each hotel are below.
